Located directly along the Whatcom Waterway in Old Town Bellingham, Purple Space Dockside Wine Storage is a unique addition to the community of wine lovers of the Pacific Northwest.
Meticulous attention to detail went into the renovation of an old fish cannery warehouse which was originally constructed in the late 1960's. Using mostly reclaimed materials, including bone-yard timbers, chandeliers from an old church, school cabinetry and chalk boards and 1920's era theater chairs provide a timeless environment. Climate controlled wine storage lockers are located on the first level in two cellar rooms where the temperature is kept at a constant 55 degrees and humidity at 60 to 70 percent, ensuring proper storage for prized liquid assets. The dramatic timber staircase leads to a cozy loft lounge with windows overlooking the Whatcom Waterway and views extending from the County Museum to Sehome Hill and Bellingham Bay. A fireplace, leather & upholstered chairs, large communal tables, plasma screen TVs and a bar constructed from an old crate once used to transport fine art at Western Washington University all add to this cool wine oasis.
